Beacon of Hope

Disparities are endemic across our healthcare system. Novartis and the Novartis US Foundation have taken a major step forward to address the root causes of disparities in health and education by launching Beacon of Hope, an innovative ten-year collaboration with 26 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), including four HBCU Medical Schools, Merck, Sanofi, the National Medical Association, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and Coursera.

Measurable Solutions For Health Equity

The goal of the Beacon of Hope initiative is to co-create effective, measurable solutions for health equity, focusing in three key areas:

  • Black male scientist

    Enabling the Next Generation of Leaders

    The Beacon of Hope collaboration has made significant progress in empowering the next generation of African American, Black and Hispanic students to become healthcare leaders.

  • 2 AA female doctors

    Clinical Trials Centers of Excellence

    The program establishes clinical trial Centers of Excellence at the four Historically Black Medical Schools to increase diversity among clinical trial investigators and participants.

  • Black female doctor

    Research Centers of Excellence

    In addition to promoting diversity in clinical trials, Beacon of Hope is supporting the creation of two additional Centers of Excellence at Morehouse School of Medicine.
