Living Diversity & Inclusion at Novartis
Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) lives at the heart of Novartis culture and is an integral part of everything we do. It is key to driving innovation and business performance as we push boundaries and reimagine medicine to improve and extend people’s lives.
At Novartis, we embed D&I within our organization, not just because it helps our business to succeed, but also because it’s the right thing to do. We bring our genuine selves – our unique perspectives and imaginations – to work each day, united by our common purpose. As we chart a path toward a more inclusive culture, we strive to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment that treats all associates with dignity and respect and provides everyone with equal opportunities to develop and succeed. D&I is at the core of our cultural aspiration to be inspired, curious, and unbossed, and it drives us to set the standard for inclusive organizations everywhere.
The Spirit of Inclusivity
To foster multicultural engagement across Novartis, we support initiatives to attract and retain diverse talent, educate associates, and encourage and support our Employee Resource Groups and Diversity & Inclusion Councils.
Toward a Better Society
We are committed to listening to different communities with a learning mindset, and doing what we can to help build a world that is inclusive, accepting, and supportive.
Novartis is honored to partner with numerous organizations whose visions align with ours, including the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, Working Mother, and DiversityInc.
We also are proud to be the recipient of multiple prestigious awards and honors, including one of Glassdoor’s 2021 Best Places to Work and a Best Place to Work for LGBTQI Equality by the Human Rights Campaign.
Standing for Racial Equity and Justice as One Novartis
We believe unequivocally that Black Lives Matter. As a company focused on improving human health globally, we also recognize the disparities Black communities and communities of color face when it comes to healthcare.
Day of Reflection at Novartis
With issues of social justice rising in prominence across the US and elsewhere, Novartis is providing tools and resources for our associates to help offer perspective and to empower them to Stand Together against racism and bias. This includes holding a Day of Reflection when associates gather to think and talk about what it means to be a truly diverse and inclusive organization.
Novartis invests in the communities we serve, and renewed our focus on increasing support of women-, ethnic-, veteran- and LGBTQI-owned businesses across the US. Engaging with diverse suppliers helps us better address the needs of patients, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders, and is a routine part of our purchasing process.
